Colorado Trip

We just returned from a very fun trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. We drove 20 hours to get there!!! I know...we're crazy, but the kids were wonderful in the car. Plus, we had a DVD player that was a life saver! I don't know how we would have survived without it!!! On our way there we stopped at the Big Texan in Amarillo.

After eating at the Big Texan, we went to see the Cadillac Ranch. The boys thought it was really neat to see the cars "stuck" in the ground.

We stopped in Canon City, CO on Sunday morning and rode a train right through the middle of the Royal Gorge. The boys LOVED it!!!! We started off riding in seats on the inside of the train and on the second half of the train ride we stood in the "outside" car. It was really neat!!!

We finally arrived in Steamboat Springs on Sunday afternoon. On Monday we went fishing with Gigi and Bopa and caught several fish.
On Tuesday we went to see "Peter and the Wolf", which the boys loved. Then we went panning for rocks and putt-putt golfing later that afternoon.

On Wednesday we went boating and fishing on Steamboat Lake. We didn't catch any fish...although, I did manage to catch our boat and lose my fishing pole in the lake all in the same cast! Yes, leave the extraordinary to me!!!

On Thursday Cliff and I went white-water rafting on the Eagle River with some family friends from Germany. It was so much fun!!!!!! (Cliff and I are the first two on the right side of the picture with white helmets...Cliff is in the front.)

On Friday we went to a ranch called Middle Creek Ranch. My dad and stepmom are friends with the man who manages the ranch. We got to ride in a "mule" (4-wheeler/jeep) and feed the buffalo...very fun!

On Friday evening we went to a rodeo in Steamboat. It was really interesting...much smaller than the Houston Rodeo. So, we were VERY close to all of the action. Cameron and Kaden participated in the lamb scramble. Kaden had no idea what he was supposed to be doing, but he sure was cute! When the scramble was over, he was crying because he didn't get to pet the lamb. I guess he thought that was the reason for going into the arena. Cameron got close enough that he touched the lamb a couple of times, but was unable to get the ribbon off. (In the second picture, Cameron is in the brown and cream-striped shirt.)

We had a great time in Colorado and are looking forward to our camping trip with some friends from Mont Belvieu. We leave Sunday!!!
