Colorado Trip

We just returned from a very fun trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. We drove 20 hours to get there!!! I know...we're crazy, but the kids were wonderful in the car. Plus, we had a DVD player that was a life saver! I don't know how we would have survived without it!!! On our way there we stopped at the Big Texan in Amarillo.

After eating at the Big Texan, we went to see the Cadillac Ranch. The boys thought it was really neat to see the cars "stuck" in the ground.

We stopped in Canon City, CO on Sunday morning and rode a train right through the middle of the Royal Gorge. The boys LOVED it!!!! We started off riding in seats on the inside of the train and on the second half of the train ride we stood in the "outside" car. It was really neat!!!

We finally arrived in Steamboat Springs on Sunday afternoon. On Monday we went fishing with Gigi and Bopa and caught several fish.
On Tuesday we went to see "Peter and the Wolf", which the boys loved. Then we went panning for rocks and putt-putt golfing later that afternoon.

On Wednesday we went boating and fishing on Steamboat Lake. We didn't catch any fish...although, I did manage to catch our boat and lose my fishing pole in the lake all in the same cast! Yes, leave the extraordinary to me!!!

On Thursday Cliff and I went white-water rafting on the Eagle River with some family friends from Germany. It was so much fun!!!!!! (Cliff and I are the first two on the right side of the picture with white helmets...Cliff is in the front.)

On Friday we went to a ranch called Middle Creek Ranch. My dad and stepmom are friends with the man who manages the ranch. We got to ride in a "mule" (4-wheeler/jeep) and feed the buffalo...very fun!

On Friday evening we went to a rodeo in Steamboat. It was really interesting...much smaller than the Houston Rodeo. So, we were VERY close to all of the action. Cameron and Kaden participated in the lamb scramble. Kaden had no idea what he was supposed to be doing, but he sure was cute! When the scramble was over, he was crying because he didn't get to pet the lamb. I guess he thought that was the reason for going into the arena. Cameron got close enough that he touched the lamb a couple of times, but was unable to get the ribbon off. (In the second picture, Cameron is in the brown and cream-striped shirt.)

We had a great time in Colorado and are looking forward to our camping trip with some friends from Mont Belvieu. We leave Sunday!!!

Beginning of Summer!!!

We are enjoying our summer!!! We've been busy playing with water guns and big bubble makers in our backyard. We also enjoy our new slip-n-slide!

We went to the Houston Zoo the first week in June and the boys loved it!!!! Their favorite animal was the tiger. He was swimming in the water.

We also went to the beach for a day, which is easy to do since we only live about 45 minutes from the beach now. The kids really enjoyed it and we will probably go back next week!

Kaden has been "practicing" trumpet...only he's using the mouthpiece in the mute, instead of in the trumpet...

We also recently celebrated Kaden's 2nd birthday. We had family and some friends over and Kaden had a great time!! As you can see, Kaden had lots of "help" opening his presents!

This week we have been participating in Vacation Bible School at our church. Cameron and Kaden are both having a blast. Cliff and I are teaching the 6th graders, which is quite a change from the younger kids that I am used to!!! But, I'm having fun!

We are looking forward to the rest of our summer, which includes a trip to Steamboat Springs, CO.

End of School Year

It's been a very fun end of school year! Cameron had his Awana's end of year ceremony at church on Wednesday night. He was awarded a certificate for being such a good leader in his group. On Thursday night, Cameron's T-ball team was in the championship game! They lost that game, but came in 2nd place overall in the tournament of 11 teams!!! Cameron has developed a LOVE for baseball this season. He can't wait to start up again next season.

To end our week, Cameron had Pre-K graduation on Friday night. The two Pre-K classes sang "You've Got a Friend in Me" and "1, 2, 3 Like a Bird I Sing". Kaden got to graduate, as well. He received a diploma for graduating from the toddler class. His class sang the ABC's.

It's been a very busy, but very fun week. We plan on just relaxing and resting this weekend. We have 4 more days left of school and then we will have the whole summer to relax!

So busy...

We finally have high-speed internet at home, so I will actually be able to blog from home now. Maybe I will actually blog more now...we'll see. We've been very busy around here. My work is REALLY crazy right now, but it should calm down some after this week. I am so ready for summer!! We've been busy going to T-ball games, T-ball practice, children's choir, and AWANA'S club. Cameron's activities keep all of us pretty busy. Cameron will graduate from his Pre-K class next week. I am very excited that he will be in KG next year on my campus. I'll get to keep an eye on him for his first year of "real" school. Kaden is growing so much. He will be 2 next month. That's so hard to believe!!! He's still my baby, though. (And he will tell you that, too.) Here are a few recent pictures from Mother's Day.
